In order to file for divorce in Alabama either you or your spouse must be a resident of Alabama for at least six months. If you or your spouse is a resident of Alabama use the back button to answer the questions again. If you are not yet a resident of Alabama for six months but you soon will be and you wish to proceed with the preparation of your divorce documents, use the back button and indicate you or your spouse is a resident of Alabama. You or your spouse must meet the six month residency requirement at the time of submitting the documents to the court. In this case you would simply hold the documents until you meet this requirement and then submit them to the court.
